A word on my name...

I chose "skinnygirl" because that is how I have described myself since I was old enough to know that I was skinny (this actually happened my second year of college, when I was 20). Also, I'm curious how much representation in the general consciousness skinny people actually have: if larger people complain about not being able to find clothes that fit, it is the same story for those of us who are small. However, I am the only one I know who is skinny and complains about the difficulty in finding clothes that fit (example: "my" jeans do not exist in this country, I have to go to South America to get them).

My mom made a comment a couple weeks ago, that whenever I have to describe myself, skinny is always one of the first words to come out of my mouth. I'm trying to change that. It may now seem ironic that I chose "skinnygirl" as the name for my blog, but irony is one thing that seems to be ever-present in my life. Also, I couldn't really think of anything else. Miss Daza, Srta Fermina (I'm reading El Amor en los Tiempos del Cólera de Gabriel García Márquez at the moment) were a close second, and I also considered Miss E (because of working at an elementary school where a lot of kids know me as such). Maybe blogs of such name will appear later. We shall see.
