la maestra a full

just as the title implies, i am a full. that means, loosely translated, that i've been super-busy. today was an interesting day - i had to sub for an ENTIRE DAY! and, TWO recess people were at the zoo with the first-graders. and I could not do recess. this left pam (the elderly and i hate to say it but it's true - nearly useless) and Mrs. A to handle 2,3,4, and 5. fortunately it was indoor recess. haha but when i walked my class (3rd grade) down to the movie room (2nd and 3rd were in there, 4th and 5th in the gym) it was complete chaos, because there are ten minutes where second and third overlap. so imagine about seven and a half classes in one room with PAM in charge! poor thing was yelling over and over BE QUI-ET! and they would not shut up. i looked in quickly, felt the collective body heat engulf me, and decided my class was having indoor recess in the CLASSROOM! so i had my ramen noodles and checked my email while the kids colored, read, drew on the board, etc.

i was actually quite impressed with this class. they were all so sweet and they listened to me (for most of the time.) but you do have to factor in that it was friday, a crummy day with everyone stuck inside, AND there was a staff-versus-5th-grade basketball game that lasted about an hour. so when we got back to the classroom at 3pm everyone was loud and excited and confused (and so was i.) so consequently i forgot to assign them their homework. damn, i hope Mrs B isn't mad at me (she's their normal teacher.)
