did you know that one of my favorite radio personalities, Randi Rhodes, was no-fly listed?
i wonder what it would take for ME to get on that list. not that i want to because it would be a pain in the ass to get off it, but what could i do or say that might get me on that list?
i have already imagined the scene in my head: i will get to the airport two hours early. i will try to check in and they will ask me to come with them. i will be detained in a secret room. i will ask why am i here? they will say "you have been deemed to be a threat to the government." i will reply, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? but then after thinking about it i'll say, well i'm not a threat to the government unless you count speaking out against the crimes that are being committed in its name and the extent to which the current administration is a threat to democracy itself. so i guess in a way you could call me a threat.
and that will seal my fate.
anyway nightmares aside, there needs to be a commission or group or committee or something to issue lists of banned words and phrases. or at least to stamp a frowney face on the following:
"cut and run"
"stay the course"
"hate our freedom(s)"
"high crimes and misdemeanors"
if you have any suggestions of your own, please do not hesitate to tell me by way of a comment!
