good lawd! not a week after i start my new job under a great administration THE SCHOOL DISTRICT STEALS THE PRINCIPAL (who happens to be the wachovia principal of the year) AND PUTS HIM AT ANOTHER SCHOOL! and to a high school no less.
he is a great leader (and this isn't rhetoric, it's just my impression formed over the past few weeks) - and he actually has a vision and not just a long script of talk. he would have been the principal of the first school i've ever worked at whose principal had been there LONGER THAN THREE YEARS. i was actually excited that i'd finally be able to work in a place headed in a positive direction with great leadership.
from the charlotte observer:
so... i'm upset. but i'll let the principal at my school know that if he needs a lateral-entry esl person to remember me.Ellis' (the principal at the other school) departure would come as Gorman tries to boost test scores at Waddell and three other low-performing schools -- Garinger, West Charlotte and West Mecklenburg. Gorman announced plans in September that raised the possibility of firing principals.
If Waddell gets a new principal, it would be the fourth at the five-year-old school. The school's students are mostly low-income, black or Latino, and their pass rate on state tests was below 60 percent last school year..
