said the machista robot, programmed to put young women in their place (ie, beneath his philandering hand to use at his discretion). here is an example of how one operates.

monday/tuesday: tells Innocent Girl how he misses her. let's say that monday happened to be valentine's day. a machista robot would not say anything to Innocent Girl on that day, but on Tuesday would tell her (through whichever means, let's say instant messenger) that he missed her the day before and asks if he can call her. he does not call; not that Innocent Girl was expecting it. Machista Robot uses this as his strategy to get Innocent Girl to want him, so that he can have her in his hands and therefore dominate the situation.

the following monday: thinking he has Innocent Girl wrapped around his finger (he did tell her that he missed her a week ago, she must be hot with desire at this point), his plan for domination is set.

he delivers what he thinks is a debilitating blow. i don't think you could ever be my girlfriend. Innocent Girl is initially offended by this, because first, machista robot has no reason to say this, and second, she doesn't like to be told "no" even if it's something she doesn't necessarily want. machista robot knows this about Innocent Girl, and knows that his set-up will cause Innocent Girl to lose her bearings, think she wants him (if she doesn't already) and therefore allow herself to be dominated by him.

but Innocent Girl is not so innocent. or naive. and cannot wait to have a chance to hold him to his word - in other words, rub this "friendship" thing in his face.
