trying to brighten things up

once upon a time, Mamma Cafetera made some cortaditos. Being hot, she went and sat on the counter to cool down, whereupon she fell asleep.

and slept for days.

one day her keeper, Miss E, noticed Mamma Cafetera was missing. Miss E figured she was taking a bath in the dishwasher so she did not think anything of it.

but the very next day, Mamma Cafetera reappeared. She was dirty. Miss E gave her a bath because she was too tired and cold to do it herself (plus Mamma Cafetera has no appendages that would aid her in the bathing process). Miss E put Mamma Cafetera in the dishwasher, started the machine, and went happily off to bed.

A few days later, after being dried and put back together, Mamma Cafetera shyly hid in the cabinet, where nobody but her keeper could find her. Then after a few hours, Miss E opened the cabinet to check on her, and maybe invite her to make a cortadito especially for her.

To her surprise, Miss E found that Mamma Cafetera had given birth to a Baby Cafetera, Cafeterita!

When Miss E asked Mamma Cafetera how Cafeterita came out looking like, presumably, her father, and not grey like her mother, Mamma Cafetera merely blushed in the only way an aluminum coffe maker can and remarked that she "had been in an amazingly colorful state of mind" that night she had disappeared.

I think she had an illicit affair with my desk lamp in my underwear drawer.

although it looks like Cafeterita will travel quite well in my new bag!

right: Cafeterita addresses her father for the first time.

where did the yellow and orange come from if the father is green? presumably from the surrounding colors of my underwear drawer.
