lazy asses

this morning one of my students was very late to class. in fact i didn't see him until my appointment with The Principal at nine this morning.

after he put his stuff away and got off to music, i asked her what had happened this morning.

i guess he didn't want to come to school today: the principal had his arms and the mother had his legs as they were dragging him out of the car.

he seemed fine the rest of the day though.

after school he said to me, "miss e, has anyone ever told you that you're the best teacher ever?"

i really have no idea what warranted that. i guess i forgot how admiring some kids are of their teachers. or they're sycophants-in-training. eh who knows.

bum weekend though. only did "social things" friday and saturday nights. EVERYONE cancelled on me for sunday night (wanted to go to the chicago intn'l film festival to see an argentine film) so i got depressed and sat on my ass the whole night eating hershey's special dark chocolate and almond nuggets. i didn't even get my closet organized or any plans made!

oh and i was also going to go visit my friend L on monday but i had to call her and cancel because i remembered - OH i have my french class and universities generally don't celebrate columbus day and there is NO WAY IN HELL i am driving back to the burbs at rush hour.

so i guess it's a good thing i didn't have a columbus day date because i wouldn't have been able to make it anyway.

instead i went to the library and then shopping - fall sales. got everything else i wanted from banana for much cheaper!
