as i was on my way to work today i realized i should have STAYED HOME! the road still was not plowed. what, was the village locked in a debate about wether to venture out into the hills, risking the loss of trucks, plows, and tons of salt?
oh, but wait. if you look closely at the picture you'll see that the shadows are pointing north so i therefore must be travelling east... but i have to travel WEST to get to my place of employment so the answer, which should be intuitively obvious to the most casual observer, is that this picture was taken saturday and by sunday afternoon (most of) the roads were clear and practically ice-free.
except my road of course. somehow they only managed to plow half of the road. my jetta has an excellent time zig-zagging around the curve.
i did make it to work this morning. right on time. and it was a nice transition to the workweek because 1) there were no kids; 2) it was all professional development; 3) it ended at 13:00.
so this weekend was AMAZING. i did NOTHING! well nothing social. i worked out, ran errands.
months ago, like the beginning of december, i went through the room above the garage and found a whole bunch of clothes that were placed there for lack of closet space, growing/shrinking waistlines, and general lack of desire to further use. i (think i) washed them then folded them and neatly placed all clothes in bags.
those bags sat there.
and sat there.
until yesterday. i looked up where i could drop off stuff for charity, found a goodwill store near me, and that was that. it was great! i didn't even have to take off my seatbelt! i drove up (there is a drive-in portal for donations), a kid comes up, i tell him to take the stuff in the back seat, he opens up the door, takes the bags, puts them on a conveyor belt and my room is now 25% cleaner!
and i found out they take books and small appliances as well as clothing. and other stuff. so i could make this a monthly practice! (but i can't help but think of all that money we spent on stuff i'm so excited to get rid of but really what's the point in holding onto stuff for which you have no use that someone else might need? i am such a pack rat).
now what to do with our museum-quality exhibit in the evolution of the personal computer (spanning from the commodore 64 - with which you used the TV as a monitor - i used to play Mr Pixel on it when i was in second grade to the best that technological advancements could offer us in december 2004)...
