“We’re not going to outsource the business of handling the war in Iraq,” said Mr. Bush’s press secretary, Tony Snow.

found this interesting article after i google(news)d "cheney + halliburton."
it goes back into US history to the time when republicans were the underdogs. i guess this shows that unquestioning party loyalty is completely retarded (ok, ludicrous if you don't believe in saying "retarded") given that the republican party today is certainly not what it was two hundred years ago.
the article also mentions the "military commissions act of 2006" (akitba*: s3930). i only read the first two sections of the bill so i have not seen with my own eyes where it suspends habeas corpus. and i'm not familiar with how the military commissions apply to US citizens. the article says
Because the bill was adopted with lightning speed, barely anyone noticed that it empowers Bush to declare not just aliens, but also U.S. citizens, "unlawful enemy combatants."i suppose i should read more of it. trust me, except for the exciting parts that affirm what every critic is saying, the reading is quite narcotic.
though does it seem that i've done more than most of our senators did before passing the bill?
