no more!

no more late hours at school.

why?

cars are being vandalised on a weekly basis.

i am no longer staying after dark because i'm kind of freaked out. there are no cameras on the parking lot where it is most convenient for me to park: right outside my classroom. that is where the cars got vandalised. i've been trying to park as close to the building as possible.

today i didn't have to teach. (an aside on that - i had a great sub today! they did everything and she left my classroom nice and neat and organized with notes and everything!) instead we had training for this new test we will be administering to our ELL (english language learner) students. soon after we all sat down at our computers, the fourth grade bilingual teacher (who is my age) sat down next me and told me that her mom's car had been vandalized. her mom was helping her that afternoon/evening, and when she went out for dinner at about 18:00 there had been gang symbols spray-painted on it. now the other instances involved melted crayons. but spray paint? gang symbols? what the hell? apparently there is a middle school bus that drops kids off in our parking lot, and that's how they get access to our cars. everyone who has had a car vandalised has filed a police report every single time. hopefully this will get their attention and they could back us up when we ask the school board to no longer allow that bus to pull in to our parking lot.

so, for the sake of my beloved jetta and my mental health, i will be returning to my house while it is still light out.
